867 Frank Alberry, prior to WWI served 18 months in Welch Regt, deserter granted full pardon when he enlisted in AIF. Promoted to Sgt in WWI, he lost a leg in 1916, was awarded the DCM, joined the RFC and downed 7 German planes between 16/9-4/11/18. After WWI, he remained a member of the Reserve of Officers, gaining promotion to lieutenant on 1 October 1920, and transferring to the retired list on 1 October 1925. He then involved himself in the lumber business. In September 1939 Alberry applied to join the Royal Australian Air Force Reserve and served as a recruiting officer[ from 11 October 1939 to 30 June 1942.
